Kate Scarbrough
Kate currently serves as the firm’s head of Legal Operations and takes on a select number of legal matters. Kate has significant experience handling complex employment and business matters gained over years of practice as a partner at a national law firm and then as SVP, Employment and Litigation at the nation’s largest home health, hospice, and community care provider with operations in over 40 states.
Kate understands, manages, and mitigates employment- and business-related risks from the perspectives of both an advocate and a stakeholder. When problem-solving, she considers various operational, financial, and political challenges faced by business clients. Her experience includes investigations, policy and procedure design and process, wage and hour issues, noncompete matters, discrimination, hostile work environment, retaliation, handling administrative charges, EEO, OHSA, and DOL matters, and trying cases to verdict before judges and juries.
Kate is especially skilled at real-world advice and developing litigation and business strategies that focus on operational goals and objectives and efficient, practical, and compliant solutions. Kate offers unique insight and expertise to her clients, being familiar with the inner workings of a law firm, a courtroom, a corporation, and a boardroom.
Kate frequently represents executives with contractual negotiations, in connection with sales of businesses, and in navigating noncompete matters. Kate also provides general counsel-level advice and training to companies and executives to support daily operations and strategy initiatives. Originally from Hahira, Georgia, Kate grew up alongside her family’s thriving airfield paving business, which has now branched into pecan farming and citrus growing. Kate currently lives in Franklin, Tennessee, with her sweet family and their wonderful dog, horrible cat, and mostly decorative chickens. Kate spends significant time volunteering for school and community projects and working on real estate ventures.
